What happened to IMPACT Radio Channel?

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

In 2010, I started a Blog Talk Radio Program.  It has been an incredible year.  I have interviewed many indivduals who are making lasting Impact on people’s lives.

This past Spring, I put the show on hiatus for a month or so to deal with a family tragedy.  During that time, I received several emails from my fans asking for transcripts of my previous shows.  While I did not offer transcripts of the shows, the thought occurred to me, my fans wanted transcripts not audio recordings.

After discussing ideas and insights with many others, I have made the decision to cease the radio show and will now conduct my interviews in print form.

What this means is that you will be able to read the interviews as a blog article on my website.  This provides you, my fans the opportunity to scan and re-read the information in the written interview and not have to listen to an entire segment.

Taking this information to a focus group was very well received.

Stay tuned – as I will be posting my first interview under the new article format and many more to come!

Thank you to all my wonderful Radio guests during my first year.  It was a pleasure and honor to get to know you and highlight your respective businesses.

If you know of a person or a business you believe is making a lasting Impact on the lives of others – please feel free to contact me for consideration.

“Who Knew?” (it would be Twitter)

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Last August, I wrote a blog about meeting one of my favorite TV personalities, Christopher Lowell (Interior Designer) if you have not read it – CLICK HERE

Since that time, it has been an incredible journey getting to my new friend (Christopher) and having the opportunity to work along side of his production team to see the launch of his high anticipated webseries, Ask Christopher

Is the webseries wonderful? If you have not watched it, please do and share with your friends!

As many of you know, I am part of the Social Media Management for Christopher Lowell.  I tweeted about him and on his behalf from his personal account @Clowell from Vegas World Market this past week.

I felt I would take this opportunity to address some of the questions I have received since Christopher had made the announcement that I am part of his team.

Those who follow Christopher on Twitter, it is not a secret that Christopher and I are friends.

What many have asked me in recent days is how did Christopher meet and how did it come about I would be a member of his team.

One word:  Twitter

Yes, the 140 character social media medium brought Christopher and I together.  But, not in the way you might think.  I found him on Twitter through his official website www.christopherlowell.com and followed his twitter account through there.  I was brought to his attention because we both have an autism connection.

When we first “met” – early Spring of 2010 – he had no idea my business backround and niche was Social Media and I never connected with him with the intent to find work with him.  Let me repeat, I never connected with him on the intent to gain business from him.

My expectations were zero

We struck up a simple 140 character connection – and as luck would have it, he came to the Vegas World Market in August and I had the chance to meet him and his staff.

We continued to be friends and along the way, he found out what my work was and it was a match for what he needed.

Do you see where I am going with this?

Twitter was a medium to meet a man and him to meet me.  We would of never met face to face.  It opened a door for conversation and chit chat.

Had I started to Pitch/Try to monetize my connection with him from the beginning.  As true as I am sitting here writing this blog, I can tell you – I know we would of never became friends.

Taking it from our cue – Social Media has one purpose and one purpose only.  To meet people you would not typically meet face-to-face.

I have other Social Media clients.  Some “get it” and some “don’t” – those who don’t get it, their businesses will be short lived and one is on the verge of folding.  Why?  Lack of acceptance and fully utilizing the Social Media medium to meet people.

It’s the relationship that matters, regardless if it adds to your bank account or your online credibility.  The measure of your credibility in life is the people who are a part of it.

I am blessed to have Christopher Lowell in my life, as many of his T-pals are grateful to be able to connect with him, too.  He is a friend to many off and online.

I am glad many of you enjoyed my tweets from @Clowell about his time at Vegas World Market.  Here are the pictures from that event CLICK HERE

Next time you connect with someone on Twitter.  Remember, there is a real person, with a real life behind that profile page.

If you don’t like to be “sold” – then don’t “sell” to someone else

You just never know you will meet on Twitter…

Operation Welcome Mat | How To Increase Your Twitter Connections

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

I joined Twitter in 2008.  Built a huge Follow list to about 15K.

This past June, I made the horrible error and deleted the account.  Warning:  Never delete an account in the morning, when you are multi-tasking.  Bad move.

So, I began the LONG journey of rebuilding my Twitter account.

A few months ago – after being so fed up with “Follow Friday” or #FF on Twitter – I decided I needed to do something different, than just do some ordinary recommends of other Twitter Pals.  Who wants to follow a bunch of people on a list?  I want to know something about that person, don’t you?

I had an idea –

Part 1 of “Operation Welcome Mat”

Everytime a Twitter Account Follows me at @CRagsdale

I will welcome the new follower with the following tweet:

“Welcome New Follower: (@ name of the acct) “(a small cut and paste from their profile info)”

This way – I am acknowledging my New Follower (which I want to do) and giving them a @Mention on their account.

The results: Amazing! People have noticed my Welcome Tweets and some have gone out of their way to connect with me on a human level because I took an extra minute to Welcome them and mention their profile info.  In addition, people are asking me about my business and I have made strong connections.   I have achieved the best of both worlds – connecting with people and able to share my business, too

______________________________________________

Part 2 of “Operation Welcome Mat”

On my business account @SuccessCharlene – I would tweet:

Welcome New Followers: (and just list their @ names – no profile information) Looks very similar to a #FF

The results: VERY few Twitter Pals have acknowledged my welcome

Is it better to Welcome with a personal acknowledgment or just a name?  It’s an obvious answer.  Always acknowledge someone and they will remember you!

I will keep my Welcome Mat out on both Twitter and get to know my Twitter Pals.  If they follow me, I want to get to know them.

Follow Me:  @CRagsdale and @SuccessCharlene – I will welcome those who list great profile information and are not vulgar, slanderous, racist or overtly political in their tweets.

Remember – Twitter is SOCIAL Media – reach out and meet some great people.  You just never know who you will meet and if you have a business, they could benefit your business, too.

Please share your stories how you have connected with others on Twitter – I would love to hear them.

Happy Tweeting!

Facebook Friend Requests Do’s & Don’ts | Part 1

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Today’s topic is about Facebook Friend Requests – Do’s and Don’ts…

Imagine for a moment, you are sitting at home, having dinner with your family – there is a knock at your door.   You peek through the peep hole to see a stranger on the other side.  You open the door and the person walks right into your house, sits at your table and watches you eat dinner.

How would you feel if that happened to you?

First off – I don’t know of anyone who would allow a perfect stranger to come into their house.  Why not?  In order to permit someone into our home, we need a reason, don’t we?

So – continue to imagine – that your Facebook Profile Page is your “home” – How many friends do you have?  A couple hundred?  A few thousand?  How many of those Facebook Friends do you know anything about?  Where do they live?  What is their profession?  Do you two have anything in common?

No matter how many Friends you have on your Friend List – if you don’t know them and they don’t know you – they are not Friends.  They are people on a list, at it’s best.

However, you have let them into your home to see your posts and what is going on with YOU!

So, then how would you feel if someone knocked on your door – you peered through your peep hole and you see a stranger, opened the door and the stranger says, “Hi, I see you are Friends with my friend, Cathy Wilson – and I went to High School with her.  I thought I would come by and introduce myself and say hi”

How would you feel?  Like you made a connection and a possible Friend, also?

In this article, I am going to talk about what YOU can do to immediately engage with someone you Friend Request.

  1. Review posts that appear on your News Feed.  For example, if you belong to a Fan Page of your favorite author – scan the comments of the others.  Do you see a couple comments you agree with?  Good!
  2. You can also do this with your Friends Posts that appear on your News Feed.  Look at the comments of those who are commenting.
  3. Friend Request a few people – NOT everyone on that list.
  4. And here is the VERY IMPORTANT PART…at the Friend Request box – add a personal message!

DON’T SAY:

“Hi, I would love to Network with you!”  (Red Flag!  What are you selling?)

“I like your Profile Picture!” (can we say STALKER?)

“Hi, I am in XYZ company and….” (need I say more?)

DO SAY: (for example)

“Hi (their name!) I saw your comment on John Doe’s Fan Page and I really agree with what you said about….(fill in the blanks)

“Hi (their name!) I see we live in the same city.  How long have you been here?”

“Hi (their name!) I see you have kids the same age as me.  Nice to meet you! “

CAUTION – be creative and authentic.  Find a genuine connection with the person you are Friend Requesting.

To Review –

  1. Find people you can authentically connect with on a personal and/or professional level
  2. Do not Friend Request EVERY person you see on FB
  3. Write authentic comments when you Friend Request,   Never send a Friend Request without a personal note, if you genuinely want to connect with people.  If you are List of Names collector – then, do the opposite.

Next article:  How to engage in conversations with those who Friend Request you!

Facebook Friend Requests Do’s and Don’ts | Part 2

Chatting with Friends

In my previous article – I shared with you some basic information to start immediate engagement with the other person.

In this article – I will share with you if someone requests your Facebook Friendship

This serves two purposes:

1. It helps you weed out the lookey-loo’s and spammers

2. It starts a dialogue with your potential FB friend

When someone requests my friendship on Facebook:

1. Not sent me a personal message – doesn’t matter to me if they have mutual friends or not!

2. I have no idea who this person is

I do not Approve nor Ignore the request. I Inbox the person with a hello and simple question:

HI (their name)

Thank you for your Friend Request. Before I accept your request, please tell me why you selected me to connect with on Facebook?

I look forward to getting to know you.

~Charlene

This serves two purposes:

1. If the person is genuine in their Friend Request, they will reply – but I will not accept any of the replies that I stated in the Part 1 article. Be mindful of who you connect with!

2. I give them one week to reply – if they do not, I Ignore their request. They were obliviously not authentic.

There are several times, I will go back and forth with friendly conversation before I decide to Accept their request. I have never Ignored any Friend Request from someone who has engaged in conversation with me.

The best benefit – you show yourself as authentic and in Social Media for the right reasons. Even if you are on social media to build your business (as many are) – you already set yourself apart by engaging in light-hearted conversations with another.

You just never know where it will go…now do you?

Remember, the first word in Social Media is S-O-C-I-A-L …not Marketing, not Selling, not Pitching…it is Social. Use this media to meet new people, everyday!

Comments? Thoughts?

How To Have a Social Media Blooper

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

If you have read any of my Twitter tweets or Facebook updates – you know I have a big pet peeve about people who do not pay attention regarding marketing their business to others.

This is going to be a very blunt Blog Article.   I believe I speak for the many who are dedicated to their company products and company and are quite fed up with Marketers who won’t pay attention.

If you pay attention to what I post you will know I am 100% committed to my Network Marketing Company and products. There is no question about it – I post it very clearly.

However, it never fails – at least once a day – I receive this phone call or email: “I have seen your posts and you look like someone who I would like to have on my team. Charlene, are you keeping your business options open?”

That is the biggest faux pas anyone could use in marketing:

If you read my posts – you would know, without a shadow of doubt I am not interested in seeking another opportunity. You would know I am confident, sold-out and dedicated to my company products and our Mission. In other words, I have no desire nor need to look elsewhere. Period.

So, what is a Social Media Blooper? Not paying attention. We hear over and over to LISTEN to what the others are saying to you.

LISTENING is also reading what they post, tweet or update. In other words, Listen With your Eyes!

These individuals who continually solicit me – will never get my business, ever. Even if they have a miracle cure for whatever disease is out there. If you will not take the time to LISTEN (aka READ) what I have posted – your credibility is gone with me.

When someone emails me or calls me to pitch a Business Opportunity. My reply is this, “I am sorry you have not seen my numerous posts about my company and products. I am 100% dedicated to my company mission and products and see no reason to seek elsewhere. Thank you, anyways!”

Is that reply blunt? Yes it is and it is meant to be.  I offer no apologies on how I feel about my product and company. I am fiercely loyal to what my products and company have done for me and my loved ones.

There is a reason I have been with my company for 2+ years. There are countless of people who are dedicated to their chosen profession. Please respect it.

Everyone is not a prospect to you.

Pay attention – Listen with your eyes and READ what others are posting or you will have a Social Media Blooper.

You will gain more clients and team members by pay attention.  Trust me – paying attention works.

Thus ends my Soapbox moment for the day…

A Night to Remember…Who Knew!

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Although I had worked in the entertainment industry for years  – I never felt like a “fan” of any celebrity. That wasn’t a bad thing, but I didn’t have the personal connection with any celebrity that I worked with.

Many years ago – I sat on my couch watching Rosie O’Donnell having the opportunity to meet and spend time with Barbara Streisand. I remember crying as she met Barbara for the first time.  Barbara was personal to her.

While I watched Rosie meeting Barbara – I cried, at that moment – I did have a TV hero who I wished I could meet. A person I tuned into Channel 33 every day at 2pm (in Nashville, TN) – Christopher Lowell of “Interior Motives”. His show brought me out of some very emotional times in my life and sparked a creativity in myself that I never knew existed until then.

As many of you, like me – Christopther fell off my radar screen – until this past year. I found his official website and noticed he had a Twitter account. I jumped for joy (not a joke, ask my husband!) knowing I could follow him on Twitter! (Everyone that knows me knows how much I love Twitter!).

Within that same week of following Christopher on Twitter – we developed a connection and friendship.   Who Knew! Not sure how it exactly happened…it was just one of those “God happenings” in life.

Soon he was no longer my TV Hero – but he became one of my Twitter Pals.

As you know, on July 19 – I interview him for my Radio Show on Blog Talk Radio and last night…I met him and his dedicated staff. But you know, it wasn’t like meeting “a celebrity” – I felt like I was seeing a great  friend.  That is what made this night so special…friendships and connections.

Christopher’s kindness is real.   His personality is just as we all know and love.
Last night, I had my Rosie O’Donnell moment in life.   I met my Hero – who I am so proud we have become Friends.

Some other great highlights of the night I got to meet @VegasBill and @24K from Twitter. If you live or have any connection to Vegas – you know these wonderful men. The 3 of us share an unwavering love for our great city Vegas. I am blessed to have met them!

My heartfelt thanks to Christopher Lowell Enterprises (www.ChristopherLowell.com) for your hospitality and making me feel so welcome and to Las Vegas World Market Center (www.LasVegasWorldMarket) for a spectacular event.

Below are some of the thumbnail photos of the Tweetup Evening at World Market Center.  Mouse over the picture for a description.

Until Next Time – whatever your Dream is…never Give Up!

You Helping Twitter – Twitter Helping You

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

When you are asked to help out someone – how often will you comply?

“Will you help me out with….?”
“Honey, can you take out the trash?”
“Will you please….?”
“Give me your input on……?”
“What do you think of……?”

If you are on Twitter (and I hope you are!) – you will find a whole host of Tweets to Send to others, known as Re-Tweets or RT’s.
And why are RT’s more important than standard Tweets?

As a recent celebrity said, “RT’s are like Applause”

RT’s gives your Tweets validation. It’s someone else saying “this is good – look!”

However, RT’s are not the only way to get your Followers attention. Other Call to Action in Twitterverse could be (but not limited to)

• Check this out…
• Follow this person
• Please vote…
• Help me…
• Asking a question: “What do you think of…”
• Can anyone help me out…
• Did you see….

And don’t forget the common courtesy to say “please”. Manners always gets attention.

Want to generate a larger Twitter following? Put a Call To Action into your Tweets. Be sure to RT often and others will Follow you. The object of Twitter is to keep conversations going. That cannot happen if you are one-sided and only offer information. Ask and Engage.

Is Twitter effective? Absolutely. Many of my Radio Show guests are my Twitter connections. I would of never met them without Twitter. The connections I have gained in Twitter have helped out my business and enhanced my life, greatly.

10 Simple Plans of Action for Social Media | Online Marketing

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

(1)    You need ONE goal, ONE purpose in Social Media/Business Building.  Why are you in the business you are in?  Figure our your goal – then you can develop a Plan.

(2)    You need to develop a TWO-step process for prospecting:  Connect – Then, Follow-up.

(3)    You need to be on THREE Social media sites:  Facebook, Twitter and one Ning.com Network.

(4)    You need to interact at least FOUR times a day on EACH of the Social Media.  Note:  I did not say advertise – I said Interact.

(5)    Find FIVE new people a day to introduce your business/product to ( and go back to Step 2).

(6)    Develop SIX Blogs/Articles before you start to post – this way you prepared in advance.

(7)    SEVEN – The number of times you should INTERACT with someone before you offer them to look at your business or product.  Discuss hobbies, common interests

(8)    Take EIGHT days to PLAN and PREPARE for your Social Media Branding.  Don’t post a thing in that 8 days.

(9)    NINEamPST – typically is the best time to post your Blogs on Social Media.

(10) If you belong to TEN Social Media groups – this is too many.  Only join the number of ones you can EASILY interact with members/connections on a DAILY basis.  Again – not advertising or “posting”.  Interaction is essential and should be your only focus.  Sales/Sign-ups are a RESULT of your Interaction.

To Learn How to Develop a Social Media/Online Marketing Plan to provide the best exposure for your business – please read this Blog Article,  “Your Invited”

Touch Your Toes with Twitter

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I love working out. I love Twitter. (@CharRagsdale and newly created @SuccessCharlene)

So – my wonderful online friend sends me a link that she believes will give me the best of my passions:

www.Twittercalories.com

A website that apparently calculates how many calories one is burning by tweeting.

My first thought?

“you got to be kidding me!”

However, I grew up in the area of Pet Rocks, Cabbage Patch Kids and Ninja Turtles.

Obviously, anything is possible – especially on the internet.

Not one to pass up an opportunity to see what this is about….I caught myself visioning work-out gyms bestowing the virtues of “Touch Your Toes Twitter” classes.

Next, Certified “Twitter Teachers” – and then of course, we will soon see the Infomercials of “Twitter Tango” by some hefty, tanned skinned man singing the praises of Tweeting to a groovy beat.

I can see the results now…

“I lost 2 inches around my pinky!”

And don’t forget…..

“loosing inches and fat around those hard to loose places around the ring finger!”

Yes, my blog followers – we have reached a new level (high or level – you decide) of working out…

Let’s all go Tweet to better health and happiness!

Now, off I go – time for my Twitter workout, my thumbs are getting kind of flabby.
